Matrix ID and search for a user by Matrix ID

1. What is a Matrix ID?

A Matrix ID is a unique identifier assigned to each user in Twake Chat. It allows others to find the correct person and communicate with them through the open-source Matrix protocol.

You can find your Matrix ID in Settings > Profile. You can copy and share it with others so they can find you easily.

2. Search for a user using their exact Matrix ID

If a person is not in your contacts but also uses the Matrix protocol, you can find and connect with them using their Matrix ID:

  1. Open Twake Chat.
  2. Go to Contacts.
  3. Enter the user’s complete Matrix ID in the search bar
  4. Select the matching user from the search results.
  5. Add the person to your contacts or start a conversation.
Tip: If you cannot find the user, check for typing errors or extra spaces. Ask them to copy their Matrix ID directly from their profile and send it to you.
